Teenager Albert Jarrett is poised to turn a trial with Albion into a permanent move on a three-year contract.

The lightning fast left-winger is expected to line-up for tomorrow's final first team friendly at Cambridge United (3pm) as a fully fledged Seagull.

Manager Mark McGhee revealed today: "We have agreed terms and a three-year deal. I expect him to sign before kick-off on Saturday."

Jarrett will be McGhee's second signing of the summer following the capture last week of Congolese under-21 international striker Maheta Molango.

The 19-year-old joined Albion on trial earlier this month after playing for relegated Milton Keynes Dons in the First Division last season.

He was recommended to the Seagulls by Lewes manager Steven King, who knows the player from his days at Dulwich Hamlet and decided he was too good for his own club.

Jarrett, born in Sierra Leone, made three starts and six substitute appearances for Dons before leaving them under a cloud.

McGhee said: "My chief scout at Millwall, Bob Pearson, found a lot of good players and he always said he was looking not for other people's cast-offs but for their mistakes.

"We hope that Albert is one of those. That is not a criticism of Wimbledon because, by all accounts, Albert was giving them a problem discipline wise. He let himself down and left the club.

"We have convinced ourselves we can work with Albert and that he is not going to be a problem with us.

"Ability wise he has got pace, quality and he is direct. He's 19, so he fits perfectly into the profile of the young squad I am trying to establish and he has got all the attributes to make a player."
