In response to Alex Chatterton (Letters, July 14), Brighton and Hove City Council is not connected with the monorail proposals.
The Brighton Bullet is a private venture and, as such, would need to be privately funded.
The council is working towards submitting a funding bid for bus-based rapid transport next year when we have a clearer idea of the size and scale of the major developments proposed for the seafront.
It is also important that any rapid-transport system is integrated with a future park-and-ride scheme so we can get people moving around the city in the most effective and efficient way possible.
Should the proposers of the Brighton Bullet identify the substantial funding required to build a monorail, the council would be happy to look at linking it in with the bus-based rapid transport system currently being investigated.
