Findon have been crowned the division one champions for the fifth time running.

They beat Burgess Hill comfortably at home to take the title with one week of the season remaining.

Toby Kingsbury (102) and Graham Waller (101 not out) starred with the bat, putting on 195 for the second wicket in 230-1 total.

Mark Stewart took 4-38 as Burgess Hill were dismissed for 184 in reply, with John Holmes (66) and Sean Kevern (50) top scoring.

Captain Nigel Waller puts his sides, success down to the camaraderie among the players.

He said: "I'm a great believer that if players get on well off the pitch then they will do well on it.

"That has been our secret ingredient over the past few years.

"We make sure we meet up regularly during the winter months for a beer, which keeps up the team spirit for when the season starts.

"We have shown over the season how the players can pull together to get results.

"Winning the title is about performing well for 16 games and there's no way we could have shown the character needed to do that without the team spirit we have at the club."

Findon have won the title a total of nine times, the most any team has achieved in the 26-year history of the league.

Waller believes his side deserved to be champions, especially after suffering the heartache of losing in the National Village Knockout Cup semi-final.

He said: "To win the title once is a fantastic achievement for any side, so you can imagine how happy we are feeling at the moment to have done it for the fifth time.

"I don't think you can choose between any of the past titles and say which is the best because they are all great in their own right.

Deserved "This season feels just as good as any because we have really deserved it, which I don't think we did last year.

"We have played some great cricket throughout and had a good run in the Village Cup as well.

"To be that consistent takes a lot of hard work, so for it to have finally resulted in the title is superb."
