Adam Trimingham's article Remembering The Bobbies Of Brighton (The Argus, August 24) was very interesting.
Having lived my childhood days in Brighton, I can remember the following:
An officer in white coat on traffic duty near St Peter's Church, police in kiosks at Preston Circus and Old Steine controlling semaphore traffic signals, the regular apprehension and chasing of illegal street traders off London Road and, of course, the black maria vans.
