I am one of those who continues to hope the Falmer Stadium will go up but I deplore all these attacks on John Prescott's integrity.
He is clearly faced with a most difficult judgment. His inspectors have found against Falmer yet the overwhelming feeling in Brighton and Hove is in favour.
Should he reject the views of his inspectors? If so, why bother to employ professionals to provide an objective analysis and conclusion?
If he rejects the views of the people, what has happened to the government's campaign to give more power to the public?
He has obviously rejected one claim of the inspectors, that the Seagulls do not merit a new stadium.
The obvious initial judgment is to see if there really is a suitable alternative to Falmer - a decision he will come to well before the next election, to the chagrin of all those serial cynics and political opponents.
