They may be out of the promotion race but Sussex still have a lot to play for in their final totesport League match.
The Sharks face Middlesex Crusaders at Hove needing a win to make sure they remain out of the bottom four in the second division. That would guarantee they avoid county opposition in the second round of next season's C&G Trophy.
Middlesex have already gone up as champions and will be presented with the trophy after the game.
Kevin Innes could get a rare chance to impress after being added to the 11 on duty against Durham on Sunday.
The all-rounder has not played in the competition since the end of April and has been given permission to speak to other counties. Off-spinner Mark Davis missed training yesterday because of a migraine and Innes is standing by.
Skipper Chris Adams believes Sussex are an improving one-day team.
He said: "I'm very pleased with the likes of Luke Wright and Michael Yardy and I think we've got the batting covered but there are others areas to be addressed.
"We've lacked someone who can rip out a top order and we've never replaced Mark Robinson, who used to bowl his overs inexpensively in the middle of an innings."
