A Sussex company which makes tools to measure the flow of fluids in oil production has been taken over.

Torbar Flowmeters, in Partridge Green, near Horsham, has been acquired by Flowmax Holdings, based in Buckinghamshire.

The company will become part of the Flowmax Instrumentation division. Jim Taylor, founder and managing director of Torbar, and co-director Terry Gluck will continue as directors of the company, which was formed in 1991.

Robin Marshall of the Flowmax Group said there were no immediate plans to change the structure and organisation of Torbar.

However, the "considerable resources" of the Flowmax Group would ensure faster growth in the future.

Mr Gluck said it was too early to say whether the firm would stay in Partridge Green, where it employs nine people.
