I can reassure RG Jenkins (Letters, August 28) that the Green Party anticipated the call to have important council meetings screened on the internet when it featured in our 2003 local elections manifesto.
Proposals to approve this measure will be voted on in the policy and resources committee meeting of September 15 and I hope all parties will support this move toward greater transparency and accountability to the people of Brighton and Hove.
People feel disengaged from local politics and it's time to invite more participation.
Webcasting meetings will provide more public access and promote inclusion in the work of the council.
