A folk singer in the more traditional mould, Laura Veirs' music is influenced by the wild landscape of Colorado where she grew up.
Born next to the Rocky Mountains, Veirs spent her childhood in the company of starry skies, unlimited space and stormy weather.
All these elements come through in her music.
Her latest album, Carbon Glacier, contains beautifully-crafted songs on topics ranging from shipwrecks and snowstorms to mortality and modern technology.
Veirs' versatile voice can be abrasive as well as fragile: Her live performances have been described as 'unearthly' and she has been compared to Patti Smith and PJ Harvey.
Now based in Seattle, she is not detatched from the world - anti-war songs are as much a part of her repertoire as lyrics about mermaids and pirates.
Starts 8pm, tickets cost £8/£6. Call 01273 647100.
