Brighton and Hove Albion are to play their next home tie in Palookaville.

But John Prescott need not reach for his A to Z and order a public inquiry because the club is not moving anywhere.

The Seagulls are to rename the Withdean stadium - for one match only - after the latest record release by their millionaire supporter Fatboy Slim.

The Hove based DJ, real name Norman Cook, is the club's most famous fan and his record label, Skint, has sponsored Albion for six years.

He will be in the crowd to enjoy the honour when Albion play their Coca Cola Championship match against Sheffield United on October 2.

He said: "I have been a Brighton and Hove Albion fan for years. Palookaville's coming home."

The Seagulls will take to the pitch in a special strip with the legend Palookaville replacing the normal Skint logo as Cook's album is played to 7,000 supporters two days before its official release.

The club believes the occasion may set a record for the biggest pre-release album playback.

Albion have already suffered a number of defeats this season and are languishing near the foot of the championship.

Critics of the club's league form might point out that 'palookaville' is a slang term from the United States, meaning "a place characterised by stupidity or dullness", according to the Dictionary.com web site.

But Albion say the Withdean's temporary new name is calculated to draw attention to the inadequacies of the club's home ground and it's campaign for a new stadium at Falmer.

Chairman Dick Knight said: "We've had a great relationship with Skint Records and Norman for over five years, during which time, like every Albion fan, they've experienced the quaint idiosyncrasies of our temporary home.

"So when Norman came up with the name of his new album - Palookaville, a place for bums on cold wet seats and no shelter - it seemed totally appropriate to rechristen Withdean for the launch home game.

"It's a bit of fun and the irony won't be lost on everyone who knows why we need a proper stadium."
