My granddaughter was unfortunate enough to have an accident in Hove Sainsbury's.

She cut an eyebrow open and there was a lot of blood which frightened her. Her three-year-old sister was screaming because her sister was crying from the shock and trauma.

My daughter, their mother, was physically sick as she didn't know what to do.

Not one person offered first aid or help of any kind, which I find appalling. No ambulance was called.

So my daughter, in a state of shock herself, drove the child to accident and emergency where she was treated and stitched. This has left quite a nasty scar.

When my son-in-law wrote to Sainsbury's, they admitted liability and sent memos to all staff saying they were to offer assistance in such circumstances.

However, my granddaughter is terrified to go near Sainsbury's because of her experience.

At school she has been taught to help others when in trouble. So what sort of message is a big firm like Sainsbury's sending out?
