M B Johnson thinks the primary purpose of Jesus's coming into the world was an act of solidarity with ordinary humans (Letters, September 10) but this is incorrect.
As he will see from John 12.27, Jesus makes it clear the primary purpose of his coming was to die as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.
To conclude his letter, Mr Johnson says: "We are big boys and girls now, adult and mature, and certainly too old for fairy stories".
Perhaps this is the trouble with the world today. Jesus said: "Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
A characteristic of little children is that they quite naturally trust.
