Worthing United manager Ian Browne gave his players a half-time rollicking as they came back to beat struggling East Grinstead 2-1 and move into second in division one.
Two goals by Dave Schneider steered United to victory after Grinstead had taken a 50th-minute lead.
Browne said: "The players were told at half-time that their first-half performance was not acceptable and in the second half they worked their socks off and we earned victory."
In the only other division one game, Chichester fought out a 1-1 draw at Rye and Iden United. Tim Olorunda struck for Rye on 71 minutes but Olamide Dedegbe levelled within 60 seconds.
Extra time was needed in the RUR Cup second round as Horsham YMCA's Joel O'Hara bagged the winner in a 4-3 victory at East Preston.
