For years, a small group of people in Woodingdean, Brighton, have been claiming a stadium at Falmer would cause them traffic problems.
But people living in Rottingdean and the surrounding communities use the Woodingdean road to get to the A27 or beyond and a stadium at Falmer would not attract a single extra car along that road over and above those that would use it to get to Waterhall, Toad's Hole Valley, Shoreham Airport, Beeding or even Burgess Hill.
There is, however, one site that would see more cars passing through the middle of Woodingdean.
Almost everyone living north of Brighton, including most of East Sussex, would take the Woodingdean Road to get to Sheepcote Valley.
Some people in Woodingdean backed the Falmer campaigners in the mistaken belief that a stadium at the University of Brighton would cause that village serious traffic problems.
So how is this favour being repaid? A number of leading Falmer activists, including the MP, are now lobbying for the stadium to be built in the one place that might cause Woodingdean the most problems.
