The misconception that Brighton and Hove Albion can survive without being given permission to build a community stadium at Falmer needs to be nailed once and for all.
Failure by the government to approve these plans will mean a club that has been at the heart of our community for over 100 years will simply cease to exist.
The development at Falmer will bring many social and economic benefits to the surrounding areas, with as many as 600 new jobs being created, the majority of which will go to residents living in deprived areas of East Brighton.
In addition, it is the only site that can be developed in line with the Government's transport policy.
Brighton station and the Corals stadium are unavailable, Shoreham Harbour will not be developed for many years, Toad's Hole Valley and Sheepcote Valley are poorly served by public transport and Waterhall is in the proposed South Downs national park.
It is time now for the anti-Falmer brigade to either accept Village Way North is the only option or come up with a viable alternative that meets the criteria set out by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
