Foreign visitors to Brighton and Hove must scratch their heads in bemusement on learning of the Albion's seven-year fight for a new stadium.
Elsewhere in Europe, it goes without saying that a community stadium is a matter of civic pride for any city worthy of the name.
Were this France, the project would be championed by the government and welcomed by local people recognising its enormous value to their community.
Nowhere else in the United Kingdom have loyal supporters been forced to suffer the seven years of misery heaped upon Seagulls fans.
That's because Brighton's siting limitations are unique.
The sooner it is confirmed finally that Falmer is the only suitable, available site for the stadium, the sooner the fans and the community can begin to dream of enjoying what will become a superb local amenity for everyone.
