Not many people can claim to have been a subject of the South Bank Show. Paul Merton is one of them.
Born in Fulham, south-west London, he once worked as a civil servant before starting his stand-up career at The Comedy Store in 1981.
Since then he has risen to become one of the country's premier comedians, gracing British TV screens and radio airwaves most weeks of the year, writing books and even turning his hand to film direction.
In 1999, Paul took over as host of BBC2's ever-popular Room 101, while he also continues as team captain on Have I Got News For You? which, remarkably, is now in its 27th series.
Paul's latest live show features the remarkable talents of fellow Comedy Store performers Jim Sweeney, Lee Simpson, Suki Webster and Richard Vranch and has to be seen to be believed.
Known collectively as the Impro Chums, this comic troupe take audience suggestions and turn them into a seemingly endless stream of laugh-out-loud jokes.
As remarkable as the man himself, Paul's newest show is essential viewing and a rare chance to catch one of the big guns of British comedy doing the business in Brighton.
Starts 8pm, Tickets £17/£15
