Your front page story "Travel Perk" (The Argus, September 10) questioned why 20 travellers' caravans were getting a daily rubbish collection when other residents of Brighton and Hove have, at best, a weekly collection.
Rubbish collection is not a private perk - it's a public health necessity that benefits everybody.
What do the local people who are questioning the level of service want? Rubbish piled high in an open field, fuelling antagonism and prejudice towards travellers or a tidy neighbourhood?
Well done to the Brighton and Hove City Council. It is providing a service that all the residents of Patcham should be pleased with.
I wish all councils could take their responsibilities as seriously.
