Is anybody in Hollingbury, Brighton, having their recycling collected?
The booklet delivered some weeks ago contained statements such as "if your wheelie bin is insufficient you are not recycling enough". Shame on us.
But in the run up to the wheelie bins being delivered, I have not had any recycling removed.
I have registered for assisted collection but even though my rubbish was put out in the black boxes provided (sufficient black boxes issued by my request) it remains in my front garden.
On the date of the previous collection, I resorted to putting all recycling into regular dustbins to ensure collection.
The system should be simple enough but I now have three boxes of rubbish awaiting collection so all recycling for the next two weeks must be put into regular dustbins, leaving three boxes collecting dust or offering weapons in the form of glass bottles for prospective thugs.
Cityclean does not reply sensibly to any communication and one wonders if there is any co-ordination at all in the refuse department.
One black box is issued to a single occupant and multi-occupancy households even though the local authority knows the size of households.
Given the situation with landfill sites, we will probably eventually be charged for refuse collection. This should be unnecessary if the local authority got its act together and delivered a satisfactory service.
Sadly, I am not in the position to deposit my rubbish on the doorstep of Cityclean for the same reasons as I asked for assisted collection.
