Having read both your articles on Too Many Crooks and The Brighton Ska Festival (The Argus, September 25 and September 28), I felt compelled to write a response.
Both your articles mentioned Ska gigs involving racist skinheads and hooligans. Having been a member of Too Many Crooks for more than 11 years, I have never seen any trouble or heard any racist comments from these so-called hooligans.
The problems you mention were in the early Eighties, when the National Front came to Ska gigs trying to recruit members to their cause and targeted skinheads.
No real skinhead would listen to such filth. This was more than 20 years ago and is such old news.
Maybe everyone should listen to manufactured bubble gum music and stay indoors in fear of a Ska gig coming to their town.
