A networking event is being held next month to encourage more women to go into business.

Women's Enterprise Day at the Thistle Hotel in Kings Road, Brighton, on November 17 aims to provide an insight into the world of enterprise and industry.

Organisers the Swan Group, a Sussex-based networking organisation for women, wants to build strong "old girls' networks" to help women prosper.

The event will include guest speakers, beauty makeovers, health tips and advice on self-employment, work-life balance and childcare. Organiser Diana Horner said: "There is a view that just because you are female, you do not need extra help.

"However, women are in the minority when it comes to business ownership and it makes good economic sense to examine the reasons."

Business Link Sussex is sponsoring the event. Guests who want to have a stall are being asked to make a £20 donation to the Breast Cancer Campaign.
