Albion fans desperate to get their hands on the new Palookaville team shirt were left disappointed after the first batch sold out in a day.
Italian kit manufacturer Errea only supplied a third of the club's order for 1,500 new navy blue change strips in time for its launch.
Demand was so high, the club shop in Queen's Road, Brighton, was cleared of all but 20 adult shirts, mainly size XXXL.
Fans now have to wait for the next batch of 1,000 shirts, which are due in a fortnight.
The kit was worn by the team for the first time during Saturday's match against Sheffield United.
It was launched to celebrate the release of Seagulls fan Norman Cook's new album, Palookaville.
Norman, aka Fatboy Slim, is an Albion director and Withdean Stadium was renamed Palookaville for the day.
Club marketing manager Trevor Watson said: "Lots of fans wanted to buy the kit on the first day or first week but were unable to and we're as frustrated as anyone else.
"Having said that, we are pleased the shirt has proved so popular."
The club shop is not taking pre-orders for the next delivery.
