I was very interested to read that between 400 and 700 people a day have joined the Free Church of Country Sports since the Hunting Bill was passed (The Argus, September 26).
A number of questions needs to be asked of this new body which calls itself a religion.
What is the name of its god? What ethical demands does it make of its members?
Do followers believe the brutal hunting of foxes is compatible with their creed? What are their beliefs about Sin and Redemption? Do they feel their need to be changed, or, as Jesus put it, born again?
Any religion that cannot answer these questions is a form of idolatry which basically means creating a god in your own image.
We cannot worship a god who does not question our prejudices or way of life or enjoys hunting and killing sentient creatures for pleasure.
