Celebrity hairdresser Trevor Sorbie came to the rescue when a rival salon suffered a mystery power cut while Alex Best was having her hair done.
Model Alex, 32, was having her blonde highlights retouched at the official launch of Essensuals when the lights went out and the blow driers stopped working.
With Alexs hair still wet, Mr Sorbie dispatched his own staff to the new Brighton salon to save the day.
Debunking the myth that it is a cut-throat industry, Mr Sorbies stylists ushered Im A Celebrity star Alex across the road and into his nearby salon, where an Essensuals stylist finished the job.
He said: I think the public perception is that we all scratch each others eyes out. Thats a bit of a myth.
I would think its the sort of thing they would do for us. We are all in the same industry trying to do a job and bitchiness only happens lower down.
At the top we are all professionals and we are all happy to help each other out.
Alex took the disruption in her stride and said she was delighted with her new cut.
Essensuals spokesman Bill Murray said: We have had a problem with EDF a substation problem but this shows what community spirit there is in Brighton.
EDF denied it was to blame for the power cut. A spokesman said: We received a call from one customer in Prince Albert Street, Brighton, just before 3.30pm, reporting an interruption to their power supply.
At 3.43pm we received a further call from the same customer to say its own electrician had restored the power and our attendance would not be necessary. This was not a problem with the power supply to the building.
Alex had earlier described the salon in Prince Albert Street the latest of 60 Essensuals franchises from Toni and Guy as fantastic.
Chris Eubanks wife Karron, 39, who once worked as a hairdresser, was also at the opening.
She opted for a bob cut.
Asked if her husband would notice her new haircut she warned: Hed better.
