Amid gas fires in a converted farm shed, these four lads from isolated fortress town Berwick-Upon-Tweed bashed out tunes in seclusion without a scene,
infrastructure or outside influence.
The result is that they had to look elsewhere for influences and traces of Johnny Cash, The Pixies, and Joy Division can be heard in their unique style of punk rock.
They produced an unsolicited demo of five songs which was snapped up by The Strokes' label Rough Trade Records while the lads were still at school. They went on to support the likes of The Zutons and The Libertines and released debut LP Shades Of Black, blending thundering guitar lines and tormented lyrics.
This Brighton gig heralds the release of latest single I Said Pig, due out in shops around the country on Monday.
Starts 8pm. Tickets: £5. Tel 01273 684501
