Still the only female winner of the Perrier Award, Jenny Eclair grabs reality TV by the short 'n' curlies in this one-woman play.
Ex-dinner-lady Carol Fletcher was catapulted to "You know, that bird off the telly" stardom when a docusoap set in her home town picked up on her brassy appeal.
Fifteen minutes of fame later, she's back in her mum's box-room trying desperately to claw her way back into the shallows of showbusiness. Having longed for fame since a childhood encounter with variety star Renee Margeritte she's not going to drift back into obscurity without a fight.
Eclair brings her customary ballsy, punk-comedy style to the character of Carol, while also investing her with the saving grace of softness.
Eclair's acts usually treat the audience to no-holds-barred crudity and graphic references to gynaecological disasters but this reins her joyful bad behaviour into a more structured storyline.
A now-familiar cautionary tale about the drawbacks of celebrity, it features Ronnie Ancona and Lee Mack providing voice-overs for some of the unseen supporting characters.
Starts 8pm, tickets cost £13.50. Call 01273 647100.
