Take Swan Lake, replace Tchaikovsky with rapid techno beats and you've got something pretty radical from young, in-your-face dance company, Australian Dance Theatre.
Joining the growing band of Antipodean dance troupes, such as Legs On The Wall and The Sydney Dance Company, that are currently bombarding our shores with innovative productions, Birdbrain draws on a whole range of diverse disciplines that include elements of classical ballet, contemporary dance, yoga, contortionism, breakdance, yoga and gymnastics.
Artistic Director Garry Stewart, who joined the troupe in 2000, has a no-compromise approach to work.
This is fast, fraught aggressive theatre that's technically demanding and fired-up with an urgency that makes it compelling to watch.
Those who like their dance wrapped up elegantly in a frothy tutu may have difficulty coming to terms with the brutal deconstruction of such a classic ballet which Stewart then lovingly reassembles through a blend of stunning soundscapes, surreal video art and virtuoso dance.
Starts 8pm, Tickets £16/£12, Tel 01273 685861
