In response to B Bayliss's comments (Letters, March 31), Celia Barlow, my wife, won a ringing endorsement from Hove and Portslade Labour Party.
It wanted the best candidate regardless of where from.
We have moved to Hove and Celia intends to help people there, from whatever backgrounds, to improve their lives. And she will.
In the light of the Government's announcement that extra funding is being given to improve school meals, perhaps you could say she already has had an effect.
Celia has campaigned on this issue in Sussex for some years.
She gave an ear-bashing to former schools minister Jacqui Smith and, when Education Secretary Ruth Kelly came to town and the Prime Minister visited Portslade, she tackled them on the issue too.
While living in Chichester she was instrumental in getting Government funding to make the A27 less noisy for local residents. What more do you want in an MP?
She is someone who cares for her community, gets stuck in and who will not be bullied by anyone, even her own party, if she believes the interests of those she is fighting for are threatened.
Surely these are the very qualities that make a good MP?
