with reference to the plan to build a waste transfer station in Hollingdean, I am extremely concerned as I live close to the site, on Round Hill.
I moved here two years ago because it is quiet, away from the bustle of the centre, yet it still has a lot of the city's character.
This development would ruin the character of the place and affect the quiet nature of the area, not least through the increased traffic noise.
It is disgraceful to propose such a development next to Down's Infant School. It is an excellent school, which my stepdaughter attends.
My wife is currently pregnant. We were planning to send our child to Downs as well but it is unlikely now.
Such a site would be prime land for developing affordable housing. As Brighton and Hove desperately need such properties, it seems ridiculous to use it as a waste site.
There must be more suitable sites that are not in the middle of residential areas.
