Its been five years since Brazils best-known dance company last brought their athletic blend of ballet and hot Latin beats to the UK.
The 19-member ensemble, founded in 1975 by Paulo Pederneiras, perform their best-known work, O Corpo, here for the first time.
Pop-art composer Arnoldo Antunes hypnotic rhythmic score was specially commissioned to offset the punky black costumes, flashing sirenstyle red lights and bodybending choreography of the piece.
Although a bold and seminal work, strongly influenced by African dance, it still draws heavily on the classicism of traditional ballet.
By contrast, the companys latest work, Lecuona, owes much to the sexy, sultry South American style more associated with Tango.
Blatant romanticism conjures up images of Latin lotharios seductively wooing their chosen senorita. The dancers sensually move their way around 12 love songs and a waltz by Ernest Lecuona, which has been dubbed "the Cuban Gershwin".
