an internet company hopes to profit by linking Brighton's creative talent with the biggest names in mobile communications.

Le Singe Media, run by entrepreneur David Curry, is helping independent artists and designers showcase their work on the mobile internet network.

Images are adapted to be viewed on a mobile phone and can then be downloaded from the internet as a screensaver or an animated clip. Le Singe, which provides technical advice and billing solutions, takes a slice of the fee customers are charged for downloading the content.

The company, in North Road, Brighton, has already secured two major deals for Brighton-based firms since it was launched last October.

The latest was brokered between Kiss Me Kwik and communications giant Orange.

Kiss Me Kwik, in Kemp Town, specialises in rude greeting cards and badges which push the boundaries of taste in a tongue-in-cheek way.

Customers include The Osbournes, Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears, who bought a risqu Kiss Me Kwik badge in Brighton.

Now artist Simon Spencer's outrageous designs have been adapted for mobile phone viewing and are being sold on the Orange World site.

Le Singe, named after an Eddie Izzard sketch, takes a cut from every Kiss Me Kwik download from the site, which sell between £1.50 and £3.

Mr Curry said: "Since the launch f ring tones the mobile content has really taken off but it struck me there was a gap in the market.

"We are hoping to build a bridge between the great creative and artistic talent in Brighton and the big communications companies."

Mr Spicer said: "Having transferred the designs on to products and licensed some of the images worldwide, providing mobile content seemed a natural progression." Le Singe's breakthrough deal in February secured a contract between cartoon animators Blunt74, in Gardner Street, and mobile network 02..
