Dancer Nathan Potter's boogie woogie won him a place in the next round of a TV show.
The 26-year-old manager of Hastings' Bay Trading clothes shop and his dancing partner, Kristy Cullen, were awarded the highest marks from judges on BBC One's Saturday night show Strictly Dance Fever.
The pair dazzled judges and viewers with a boogie woogie number to a backing track of Chantilly Lace by the Big Bopper.
Nine couples now remain holed up in the Buckinghamshire mansion where they must perfect a different routine each week in the hope of winning the £50,000 prize.
Nathan, of South Street, Eastbourne, is backed by his childhood heroine, actress and dancer Bonnie Langford.
In an email to Nathan's boyfriend, Tim Sitwell, Bonnie wrote: "We were so excited when Nathan got through. His attitude and approach are fabulous, as well as the dancing of course."
Nathan grew up in a mining village in Warwickshire and now teaches dance at the Stagecoach club in Ocklynge School in Eastbourne.
Strictly Dance Fever, hosted by Graham Norton, is on BBC One on Saturdays at 5.55pm.
