Now illustrations have been released, I hope Brighton's planners appreciate the Brighton Bullet would be a gross eyesore in what is, incidentally, a designated Conservation Area (The Argus, April 15).
The monorail structure is clumsy and, unless placed high enough to avoid obstructing access, would be visually intrusive, as the artist's impression reveals.
Also, it could not co-exist with the Volk's Railway. One would drive the other out of business - though I would not like to say which would be the survivor in the competition.
The Brighton Bullet does nothing that could not be done better and at a fraction of the cost by upgrading the Volk's railway and obtaining a couple of extra trains suitable for year-round use.
Extending Volk's railway into the Marina would be straightforward.
Nor would it be difficult to run it into the Old Steine, to a terminus near Marlborough House - which would also be impossible with a monorail.
These enhancements would turn it into a useful transport link without destroying the line's historic character.
The money being wasted on consultancy fees for the Bullet would go a long way towards paying for such improvements.
Brighton and Hove City Council should apply the executioner's bullet.
