I cycle daily from Patcham to the city centre, a round trip of ten miles - that's 2,000 miles per year of rush-hour roads.
The vast majority of motorists are polite and considerate towards me and I am the same in return.
The welcome new addition of the A23 cycle lane from Westdene to Preston Park, together with the network of quiet roads and cycle lanes published in Brighton and Hove City Council's map of cycle routes, means I can avoid the busier roads and junctions.
I find the commute safe and enjoyable and it puts me in a great frame of mind for the day ahead.
Selfish, impatient drivers seem to put cyclists into a victim mentality but I'd bet these irate drivers are the very ones who drive too close behind my car and speed up my residential street as well.
Mike Ward and the minority of enraged idiots like him are a danger to one and all - road users, pedestrians and children - not just cyclists.
