I had to laugh reading Charles Whitney's report about the closure of St Barnabas Church in Sackville Road, Hove.
I have lived in the parish of St Barnabas for almost 32 years and have seen a decline in community involvement in the church.
During the time of Father Horsey some years ago, there was a social club and a true sense of community.
Now, the big, cold church has a congregation of about twenty and you are asked to give money even when you don't attend.
There are still many good churches in the area. A good idea would be to sell off St Barnabas and give money to churches which play a bigger role in the community.
