A pub which donates its profits to charity has helped a community group battling to survive after its funding ran out.
The Moulsecoomb Neighbourhood Trust in Brighton made ten staff redundant when its main funder, the eb4u regeneration scheme, decided not to offer any more money at the end of the financial year in March.
The trust, which runs a variety of community projects, including a minibus and creche, was forced to close its after-school club. The club had given parents from Moulsecoomb the opportunity to work while their children were cared for at a heavily subsidised rate.
When the trust announced its redundancies and closure of the club, Brighton and Hove City Council gave it a £27,000 emergency grant, although the money was not enough to save the after-school club.
The Robin Hood pub in Hove has now handed the trust £2,500.
Other recipients of cheques for £2,500 included the Survivors Network, Fun in Action for Children and Off The Fence schools and youth programme.
The pub, dubbed the People's Pub, has donated more than £30,000 to local groups.
