Lemar may have been given his big break on Fame Academy but he gave a highly credible performance, cementing his position as one of the UKs most exciting RnB stars.
The crowd went wild when he appeared on stage in an Usher-style entrance all slick jacket, jeans and flashing lights. Catchy, funky beats followed before Lemar launched into the melodic Maybe Just Maybe from his second album.
He followed it with beatladen 50/50 and then one of many costume changes, sending the crowd into a further frenzy.
Soulful Call Me Daddy gave him a chance to stretch his voice before taking the tempo up with Dont Give Up, a slow but radio-friendly track.
Lemar worked best on the slower ballads when he had a chance to show off his voice and What About Love gave him that opportunity without his band drowning him out, as it sometimes did on the faster songs.
The anthemic Lullaby was a catchy example of his co-writing skills while Soulman had a slightly funky Seventies vibe.
He finished with a moody, and arguably much better, version of The Darkness I Believe In A Thing Called Love, then treated the crowd to the pop ballad If There Is Any Justice, leaving them clamouring for more.
Sometimes a bit Seal, sometimes a bit Terence Trent DArby or even Lionel Richie, Lemars success is in his versatility and he may even enjoy those artists longevity, too.
