A clothes shop has been fined £2,000 for selling fake Calvin Klein boxer shorts.
The counterfeit underwear was found at Leading Labels in The Waterfront, Brighton Marina, following a swoop by Brighton and Hove City Council's trading standards team.
An officer bought a pair of boxer shorts from the shop in May 2004 and tests confirmed it was fake, Brighton Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.
Len Batten, representing the council, said trading standards officers seized 48 more pairs after raiding the shop three weeks later.
Defects in the boxer shorts included incorrect labelling, stitching and packaging.
Robert Brackup, representing Leading Labels, said: "My clients have not broken the law in order to enhance their profits but because they have been misled by a supplier."
Leading Labels pleaded guilty to selling the counterfeit goods. The company was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £750 costs.
