Here we go again. Someone comes up with a bright, innovative idea - the monorail - to bring Brighton's seafront into the 21st Century and the protests start - "The Volks Railway wouldn't survive.....etc".
I would think people, especially youngsters, would revel in the idea of going from the Palace Pier to the marina on the Volks and then back on the monorail. They'd benefit each other.
Then there are the inevitable cries of "eyesore", "don't want that in Brighton" and so on. Maybe there was a "Keep Brighton Prehistoric Society" back in the days when the Volks was built.
Did they protest vehemently against this "eyesore on stilts running along the beautiful Regency seafront"? Come on Brighton, wake up before you lose more of your seafront in the same way that you lost the West Pier.
