This rare visit to the UK by the Trisha Brown Dance Company, their first to Brighton since 2000, will revisit two of her signature works, before culminating in the UK premiere of her highly-acclaimed Present Tense.

An innovative and exuberant dancer and choreographer, Trisha Brown changed the face of modern dance forever when she left the experimental Judson Dance Theatre in order to establish her own company back in 1970. Founded as a "hotbed of dance revolution", the Trisha Brown Dance Company's earliest performances explored and incorporated the architecture of Manhattan's SoHo district; flirting with gravity by developing dances specifically for odd environments such as rooftops and walls.

A direct descendant of Brown's early experiments with aerial choreography, Present Tense features pairs of dancers reeling and tumbling, seemingly suspended in mid-air.

First performed at Cannes in December 2003, this raucous piece of movement is set to the rhythmic tones of Sonatas And Interludes For Prepared Piano by the enfant terrible of neo-classical composition, John Cage.

The accompaniment to Astral Convertible, another of the evening's performances, also comes courtesy of John Cage. Premiered in 1989, it has been described as a high-tech utopian fusion of light, music and fluid geography.

Glacial Decoy will also be performed during the evening. Devoid of any musical backing, the choreography is set against vast photographic panoramas, lending an air of sparse ambience to the proceedings.

Starts 8pm. Tickets £22.50/£18/£15/£10/£6.
