Sir John Tenniel's iconic illustrations for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass must be among the most famous and best-loved children's images in the world.

In conjunction with The City Reads, and marking the 70th anniversary of Penguin Books, the Charleston Gallery presents a timely exhibition of these illustrations the only prints to be made directly from the original engraved woodblocks.

Largely self-taught, Tenniel was chief cartoonist for Punch magazine from 1850-1901. But he is best remembered for these magical illustrations.

Open Wednesday-Sunday 2pm-6pm.
