Chris English raised some valid points over the treatment of Dennis Halford, the pensioner in handcuffs (Letters, April 28).
However, for reasons best known to himself, he signed off his letter with this rant against Brighton and Hove Albion:
"Perhaps The Argus could mount a campaign on a real and local human interest story along the lines of 'free Dennis Halford', instead of devoting countless column inches to the about-to-be-relegated-again Brighton and Hove Albion and their pathetic fight for a new home.
"After all, who was it who allowed the Goldstone Ground to be sold from under their feet in the first place?"
Chris, not that you'll be interested, but the Goldstone Ground was disgracefully sold by the former Albion chairman and businessman Bill Archer, leaving the club high, dry and homeless.
It's not clear from your letter who you blame for that but the current board had nothing to do with the sale and are in the process of trying to repair the crippling damage the sale of the Goldstone inflicted on the club.
As for the "pathetic fight for a new home" you refer to, those at the club as well as many, many fans have poured their hearts and souls into the Falmer application and continue to do so despite the insufferable constant delays and red tape at the Inquiry.
The only thing pathetic are your ill-considered and ignorant comments on a subject you clearly know very little about.
