Wild Park in Moulsecoomb will be transformed in an Valencian-style festival filled with colour and noisy excitement centred around a 20ft caricature.

In The Seven Deadly Sins Fiesta Finale, months of hard work will literally go up in flames.

At the start of Brighton Festival, residents in the EB4U area, which includes Moulsecoomb, Whitehawk, Saunders Park and Bates Estate, begin work on creating a giant sculpture representing the seven sins. Then, in this finale, amid the celebrations of a Spanishstyle festival, complete with firework wizardry, the enormous sculpture will meet a fiery end.

The event follows last year's fiesta in Whitehawk where individual sculptures representing the seven deadly sins were paraded though the streets before being set alight.

It it is influenced from the Fiesta de las Fallas in Spain the feast day of San Jose. This year's fiesta is the final project from the three-year EB4U-funded art programme.

The figure will be on display in Moulsecoomb and Whitehawk before it reaches Wild Park on May 21. Anyone from east Brighton who would like help make the sculpture should call 01273 571106.
