A short film receiving its international premier at the Cannes Film Festival can be seen alongside work from directors across the South-East.

Someone In Particular, featuring Brighton resident and Last Of The Summer Wine actress Dora Bryan, will be screened at the Pressure Point in Richmond Place tonight as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe.

The viewing comes ahead of the Cannes Film Festival when Bognor-based director Bryan Gartside will be promoting the piece about a businessman taught a valuable lesson by two homeless women.

The film is being screened by teams from Brighton-based film company Final Cut, which was launched in October 2002 to support the work of independent directors across the city.

University of Sussex film makers and a music video from a Zimbabwean-born director are among the shorts being screened during the three-week festival fringe.

The work of film makers in and around Sussex will be premiered during Spotlight South-East at the Marlborough Theatre in Princes Street on Thursday, with the Final Cut last night party at The Hanbury Arms in George Street, on May 26, examining the theme of the exotic in short film.
