I agree with Adam Trimingham (The Argus, April 27) - it is time to rebuild the West Pier and rekindle the heritage this iconic structure gave the world.
However, it appears to me the surviving skeleton is the clue to the shape the new pier should take.
The challenge should be to form an innovative sphere in the modern material idiom, to create an international forum space graced and complemented by a traditional promenade.
I urge The Argus to invite innovative designs for exhibition and invite residents to indicate the style and form a new pier could take.
