Here's a story about good neighbours for a change.
Recently, my garden fence was vandalised, leaving my back garden completely open and giving my nine-year-old daughter and me sleepless nights.
We were both worried sick about intruders - I didn't even feel I could let her play outside in the back in the day. But I couldn't afford to pay to have it repaired and had no idea where I could go for help.
However, by chance I met one of the Whitehawk Good Neighbour Scheme volunteers who put me in touch with the local neighbourhood wardens.
They visited the next day and referred me to the housing department. I am now on the priority repair list.
If you need a good neighbour, you can call them at the Valley Social Centre on 07913 975577 or drop in on a Tuesday from 10am to noon or a Thursday from 3pm to 5pm.
