Sussex under-18s are the South East Inter-Counties Champions.

They clinched the title for the first time in six years with a 2-1 win against Kent at Sevenoaks.

Sam Adams (Rye and Iden) and Tom Smith (Worthing) scored their goals.

Manager Peter Miles, who has guided Sussex to the title five times in 20 years, said: "I am proud of the boys. It is a decent achievement because Kent were a strong side and we had Joe Keehan and Aaron Gunn missing.

"It got a bit tense at the end when they pulled one back but our goalkeeper, James Plumley, and defender Sami El-Abd were outstanding.

"I have been associated with seven South East title wins, the first two as an assistant manager, and this one gives me as much satisfaction as any of them.

"I have also got to thank my coach Darin Kilpartrick, who did a brilliant job."

Sussex were unbeaten in six out of seven fixtures, the one defeat was against London.
