When Brighton and Hove City Council undertakes a project I assume they not only take expert advice but also a commonsense approach to what is required.
The "new" children's pool near the West Pier is too small for the number of youngsters using it on even a reasonably fine day.
The major problem is no seating has been provided for parents or carers. It's no fun for a 70-year-old to have to sit on the ground. Nor is there any space to picnic. At the old pool, there was ample room each side.
As for the so-called art mosaic, these tiles are for interior use, in kitchens or bathrooms. They are not made to withstand skaters, skate boarders, trick cyclists, cars and lorries. The area now looks pathetic.
Seating on this lower promenade is much needed, particularly for anyone who cannot or does not want to sit on the beach.
