The of people flying from Gatwick airport continues to rise steadily following a busy Easter.
Passenger numbers were up 0.5 per cent in April compared with the same period in 2004, at 2,438,100. The figure would have been higher if this year's Easter holidays had been in April instead of March.
Heathrow airport recorded a 0.8 per cent dip in the number of passengers for the same period.
Cargo passing through Gatwick fell by three per cent during April.
