For the first time, a majority government has been elected by fewer people than those who could not be bothered to vote.
Of those who voted, just 37 per cent voted Labour, 33 per cent Conservative and 22 per cent Lib Dem. On average, just 26,858 votes were needed to get a Labour MP elected, 44,241 votes for a Tory and 99,000 votes for a Lib Dem MP.
The crazy first-past-the-post system has reduced the General Election to a travesty of democracy.
The sooner we adopt fairer proportional representation, which is used in Europe, the better.
This is the only way to give a true reflection of the public's views as well as a more representative parliament.
